You didn’t ask, but here’s the story.
Josh and Anna first met on a zoom call and Josh had a buzz cut. This call was to meet after finding out they would be leading the Bath University Christian Union together. Josh was pleased to see he had a cracking gal as VP, and Anna was pretty chuffed with a rather good looking president.
That was a great year, they both grew a lot and they made a good team. A few months after it was all over, Josh and Anna started dating. Anna started her placement year at Pukka, Josh started his fifth and final year of university. I think to summarise this season in one word it would be Shakshuka. After Anna had finished at Pukka and Josh had graduated, they spent two weeks walking the Camino De Santiago before Josh moved to London to start the civil service fast stream and Anna entered her final year of Uni. Then they broke up.
Throughout their time apart, Josh got stuck into the awesome church community of St Stephens in Shepherds Bush, learned to play the piano and remained pretty certain that Josh and Anna together was a very good thing. Meanwhile Anna, living in her little flat in one of the Bath crescents, cracked on with final year, graduated and walked the Camino again (but faster this time and for longer since Josh wasn’t slowing her down), all while remaining rather confused in the old Josh area. They both grew in some very important ways during this time. After a rollercoaster of events and feelings during the summer of 2024 (well on Anna’s side anyway), Anna moved to London to start her new job.
On a Monday night, 14th September 2024, something rather good happened. Josh was having a group of friends round for a belated birthday dinner, which he invited Anna to come to. Watching Josh cook and serve up a dal bhat and love his friends well, Anna saw very clearly who Josh Galpin is and the man he was growing to be. After months of confusion, being with Josh in his kitchen that evening in Flat 247 Mole Court, Anna had absolute clarity that she wanted to be with him, and just a few days later on the Friday night, she was ready to marry the man. Finally, Anna had joined Josh in knowing what a good thing this was. Season two of Josh and Anna began, praise God.
Josh needed a bit of time to process all this, but clearly not that much time as he asked Reg if he could marry his daughter just a month later. Josh got down on one knee on 26th January 2025 and asked Anna to marry him, to which she said “yay". Season two has consisted of some highs and lows with work, a lot of cycling, some attempting to learn to play football, and a lot of falafel and hummus from the Damascene supermarket for Sunday lunch after church.
God has been so clear in every detail of this journey so far, and they’re both excited to keep growing and learning in His goodness and grace. They’re looking forward to kicking this marriage off on the 4th October 2025 with all their friends and family!
Well done for making it to the end of this long story you didn’t ask for and now enjoy some photos that you also didn’t ask to see.
